How To Create One-click Shutdown and Reboot Shortcuts

Step 1  : Create a shortcut on your desktop by right-clicking on the desktop, choosing New, and then choosing Shortcut.

The Create Shortcut Wizard appears.

Step 2  : In the box asking for the location of the shortcut, type shutdown.

Step 3  : After you create the shortcut,double-clicking on it will shut down your PC.

But you can do much more with a shutdown shortcut than merely shut down your PC. You can add any combination of several switches to do extra duty.

e.g.    shutdown -r -t 01 -c "Rebooting your PC"

Double-clicking on that shortcut will reboot your PC after a one-second delay and display the message "Rebooting your PC." 

The shutdown command includes a variety of switches you can use to customize it.

List of funtions:-

-s

Shuts down the PC.

-l

Logs off the current user.

-t nn

Indicates the duration of delay, in seconds, before performing the action.

-c "messagetext"

Displays a message in the System Shutdown window. A maximum of 127 characters can be used. The message must be enclosed in quotation marks.

e.g.    shutdown -s -t 03 -c "Good Bye Dude"

         shutdown -r -t 03 -c "I'll Be Right Back Soon"

-f

Forces any running applications to shut down.

-r

Reboots the PC.

How To Disable A Language Bar (Win XP)

In order to disable a language bar on your PC, you need to use a classic view of control panel. If you are using category view of control panel, please switch the setting.

Step 1  : Click Start, click Control Panel, and then double-click Regional and Language Options.

Rename 'Recycle Bin' To Whatever You Want

Make sure you backup your registry before changing anything although changing 'Recycle Bin' name is a simple tweak and doesnt affect anything else.

Step 1    : Start, Run, 'Regedit'.

Step 2    : Press 'Ctrl'+'F' to open find box and type 'Recycle Bin' to search.

Step 3    : Change any value data with 'Recycle Bin' to whatever name you want to give it (e.g. StartSmart  

                 Trash).

Step 4   : Press F3 to continue searching for 'Recycle Bin' and change wherever you come across 

                 'Recycle Bin' to new its new name.

Step 5    : Repeat step 4 until you have finished with searching and changed all values to its new name.

Step 6    : Close regedit and hit F5 on desktop to see the new name on screen.

Windows 8 is the codename for an upcoming version of Microsoft Windows, a series of operating systems produced by Microsoft for use on personal computers, including home and business desktops, laptops, netbooks, tablet PCs, and media center PCs. The Start menu is replaced by the new “Start screen”, which includes live application tiles. The user can return to the regular desktop by choosing a “Desktop” application. Examples of applications on the Start screen include a weather application, Windows Store, Investments, RSS news feeds, user’s Personal Page, and user’s Windows Live Account. The new interface is primarily designed for 16:9 screen resolution, with 1366×768 and larger screens able to display two Windows 8 applications using “Snap”. 1024×768 screens can display one Windows 8 application in full-screen, and 1024×600 screens can only use the traditional Windows Desktop. It has been confirmed by Microsoft that PCs with mice and keyboards can also use Windows 8. Microsoft also announced that Windows 8 will use the processor and the physical memory more efficiently, to make Windows run more smoothly. Mike Delman, Microsoft’s vice president of global marketing, hinted in an interview that Windows 8 would have Xbox Live integration, similar to Windows Phone 7.

How To Change Your Ip In Less Then 1 Minute

Step 1   : Click on "Start" in the bottom left hand corner of screen
Step 2   : Click on "Run"
Step 3   : Type in "command" and hit ok

You should now be at an MSDOS prompt screen.

Step 4   : Type "ipconfig /release" just like that, and hit "enter"
Step 5   : Type "exit" and leave the prompt
Step 6   : Right-click on "Network Places" or "My Network Places" on your desktop.
Step 7   : Click on "properties"

You should now be on a screen with something titled "Local Area Connection", or something close to that, and, if you have a network hooked up, all of your other networks.

Step 8   : Right click on "Local Area Connection" and click "properties"
Step 9   : Double-click on the "Internet Protocol (TCP/IP)" from the list under the "General" tab
Step 10  : Click on "Use the following IP address" under the "General" tab
Step 11  : Create an IP address (It doesn't matter what it is. I just type 1 and 2 until i fill the area up).
Step 12  : Press "Tab" and it should automatically fill in the "Subnet Mask" section with default numbers.
Step 13  : Hit the "Ok" button here
Step 14  : Hit the "Ok" button again

You should now be back to the "Local Area Connection" screen.

Step 15  : Right-click back on "Local Area Connection" and go to properties again.
Step 16  : Go back to the "TCP/IP" settings
Step 17  : This time, select "Obtain an IP address automatically"
Step 18  : Hit "Ok"
Step 19  : Hit "Ok" again
Step 20  : You now have a new IP address

This only changes your dynamic IP address, not your ISP/IP address. If you plan on hacking a website with this trick be extremely careful, because if they try a little, they can trace it back.

How To Change The "Start" Button Name on Windows XP

Step 1  : Go to "download.com" (make sure you connect the internet)

Step 2  : Search "resource hacker"

Step 3  : Download "Resource Hacker 3.4"


Step 4  : Click open

Step 5  : Extract "Reshacker" (make sure you install WinRAR or WinZip to extract these file)

Step 6  : Click "Reshacker"

Step 7  : Click run

Step 8  : Click "file", then open

Step 9  : Look in "Drive C" (System)

Step 10 : Click "Windows"

Step 11 : Click "explorer"

Step 12 : Go to "String Table"

Step 13 : Choose 37

Step 14 : Click 1033

Note : Name it what ever you replaced "start" with and with ".exe" at the end of the words
